Regupol track at National Stadium opened

Only a few months after the opening of Usain Bolt’s new training track at Mona Campus (University of the West Indies UWI), BSW has just completed another athletic track project in Jamaica. BSW has built (in a record time of approx. 4 months) a new Regupol tartan athletic track at the National Stadium which is a part of the "Independence Park" sports and cultural complex in Kingston, Jamaica.

According to Peter Breuer, export director at BSW GmbH, the job came about primarily because of the outstanding experience which the Jamaican athletes have already made with the Regupol tartan athletic track at Mona Campus. Additionally the Jamaican sports ministry was convinced by BSW’s fast and trouble-free installation process at the UWI facility, which now serves Usain Bolt and Coach Glenn Mills' Racers Club as their home training ground.

The project also included the removal of the worn-out track as well as the laying a new asphalt surface that had to meet IAAF standards. The new Regupol tartan track has the same typical blue color as Usain Bolt’s training track and the track at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium. Of course it does meet the IAAF requirements and has been tested CLASS I.

On March 12 the track has host its first international competition: High class athletes competed in the 2011 Gibson Relays.
