Cleaning and Maintenance
1. General information | decoelast® is an innovative and extremely dirt-resistant flooring system. It has a hard-wearing surface which develops very few scratch marks. There are no pores or joints, which prevents the intrusion of water and dirt. This greatly reduces the need for cleaning and maintenance costs, making decoelast® extremely cost-effective in the long term. |

2. Clean-off zones | Installing clean-off zones inside the entrance to a building is one of the most effective ways to dramatically reduce the need for cleaning. |
3. Initial treatment | We recommend the TASKI cleaning system from JohnsonDiversey as a professional initial treatment for decoelast®. For more information, see the tables on the last page. The initial treatment for your decoelast® floor includes the application of a protective film which provides extra protection from scratch marks and makes the floor much easier to clean. This treatment is optional and is recommended for frequently-used surfaces. |
4. Daily cleaning | Depending on the level of dirt, the floor is mopped using finish I and III, applied with a damp or wet cloth. Please see the table on the last page for cleaning product types and concentrations. If the floor is not very dirty, it may also be cleaned with a dry, dust-lifting mop. |
5. Intensive cleaning treatments | Intensive cleaning removes stubborn dirt that regular cleaning cannot take away. If decoelast® finishes I and III are used, an intensive cleaning treatment should not be needed very often, depending, of course, on the type and amount of wear and tear the floor is subject to. Please see the table for cleaning methods and products. |
6. Deep cleaning | Deep cleaning removes extremely stubborn dirt and the protective layer applied in the initial treatment. When deep cleaning, follow the cleaning product manufacturer’s instructions carefully to achieve optimum results and to avoid damaging the floor (see table). After the floor has been deep cleaned, another initial treatment must be applied to decoelast®. |
7. Re-topping | decoelast® is extremely hard-wearing and durable. However, no flooring in the world is immune to the signs of damage which eventually appear. When this happens, you do not have to remove decoelast® and install a new floor. Instead, you can have your decoelast® floor re-sealed again. This is far less expensive than buying a new floor. If you have any questions about this option, please contact us. |
8. Repairs | If a large surface area or individual spots of decoelast® are damaged, there is no need to take it out completely and have a new floor installed. Not only can we replace the transparent finish on individual areas on the decoelast® surface, we can also replace the colour layer and even the impact sound isolation layer, helping you to reduce your renovation costs. If you have any questions about this option, please contact us. |
9.Prevention | To prevent scratch marks, you should not drag objects with sharp corners across the floor. Do not use harsh cleaning products on decoelast® finish I and III. |
